Description

Why we want you?
If you like getting your hands dirty and love the great Scottish outdoors, whatever the weather, then this could be just the ticket!

Every week, we organise practical work groups to carry out various habitat management and estate work around the RSPB site. We need your help to keep on top of essential reserve management and one-off tasks across a variety of beautiful habitats.
Typical tasks include fencing repairs, scrub removal, vegetation management, invasive species removal, ditch clearing and lots more!
All tasks are vital for conservation of important wildlife and habitats - you would be directly contributing to the protection of our countryside - and for retaining good access to, and around the site.

What's in it for you?
An opportunity to help with habitat management, become part of a small, friendly team and learn about the running of the site, plus be involved with one of the RSPB's most exciting sites. You'll get a chance to enjoy the place, learn more about our plans and really get your hands dirty! You'll also pick up or be able to share skills and techniques.
This is an excellent chance to make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation. You will gain a valuable insight into the workings of Europe's largest conservation charity.

What skills do I need?
Enthusiasm and an interest in nature conservation are essential. No specialist skills are required though a good level of fitness and a desire to work outside (in all weather!) is essential. You will need an up-to-date tetanus injection and to enjoy working as part of a team.

Other information:
This role is based at RSPB Loch Lomond in Gartocharn, West Dunbartonshire. Full training and background information will be provided and since you'll be giving up your time, it's only fair that we offer to reimburse your travel expenses (up to 25 miles).
The RSPB speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment. We rely upon memberships and donations to fund our work. By volunteering your time and skills, you could make a real difference to the work of the RSPB. Nature is amazing – help us keep it that way.

Travel Info
The RSPB site is not currently accessible by public transport, so you will need access to a car. It might be possible to arrange to lift share with other volunteers, but this cannot be guaranteed.
