Description

Support groups are essential for autistic adults seeking support. They provide a safe opportunity for adults to socialise, meet others who also on the autism spectrum, share their own experiences and listen to others, to help alleviate social isolation.

What you will be doing

Attending the support group meetings fortnightly
Getting to know people at the group to build their self-esteem and self-coping strategies
Getting involved in the activities with the group members
Getting involved in Social Skills Training with the group
Welcoming new members
Accompanying group members in local outings
Keeping in touch with the group leader and notifying if you are unable to attend
Attending volunteer meetings

We seek applications from anyone interested in the role, but particularly welcome applications from those with a diagnosis of autism or Asperger syndrome
