  • Elderly
  • Befriending/Mentoring
  • No Specific Locality
  • This is a flexible, homebased voluntary role that can easily be fitted in around your own lifestyle and availability. Arranging the first call companion calls for your group is likely to take several hours of your time; once your group is up and running, however, you will be volunteering for around two hours per month. This is a long-term voluntary role, so we are ideally looking for individuals who are able to commit to volunteering with us for at least 12 months.

Description

Call Companions is a telephone befriending service providing regular chats to older people, often living on their own and with little social interaction, launched in response to the Covid-19 crisis. Our call companion coordinators are volunteers, over the age of 18, who oversee a small group of around six call companions and the older people they speak to on a regular basis.

As the call companion coordinator, you will be the main point of contact for everyone in your group. You will be in touch regularly with both the volunteers and the older people, making sure they have all the support and information they need to make or receive their regular calls and responding to any queries or concerns. You will keep the team at Re-engage updated and submit a monthly report. This is challenging but rewarding role that makes a big difference in the lives of people experiencing loneliness.

Once you have submitted your application, you will be contacted by a member of staff for an informal interview. We then complete an ID check and ask you for 2 references.

As one of our valued volunteer leaders, you’ll receive online training and Re-engage staff are on hand to support you.
