Description

START volunteers will assist the DACA team by meeting and assessing new DACA clients and making referrals to the appropriate team i.e. Health and Wellbeing, Counselling, Steps to Recovery, or Groupwork. This role will be instrumental in the client’s journey with DACA. START volunteers will be responsible to John Macdonald, Services Manager, with support from the wider DACA team. Dumbarton Area Council on Alcohol (DACA) are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as START Volunteers and be the first point of call for people needing support with alcohol-related problems. This new role will involve meeting and assessing new clients, advising on recommended drinking levels, and making referrals to the appropriate DACA services. We are especially interested in volunteers with a background in health and social care with experience of working with vulnerable people. With support from the DACA team the START volunteer will be required to liaise with staff and other volunteers to coordinate client support and work collectively toward outcomes. Being knowledgeable about the support DACA can offer, you will be able to motivate clients to engage with these services and conduct Alcohol Brief Interventions (ABIs) if necessary (training provided).
