Description

The Sporting Memories Foundation Scotland has developed weekly groups for adults living with dementia across central Scotland with a focus on sporting reminiscence and physical activity. Volunteers are an essential and important part of our organisation as they enable us to run groups and enhance the lives of group participants. We value their contribution and consider it our responsibility to make sure that those volunteering with the Sporting Memories Foundation find the experience rewarding and enjoyable. The Team/Group Facilitator will be responsible for running a group, sometimes with a team of volunteers to assist them depending on the size of the group. • Planning a programme of activities and ensuring that the resources and equipment are available. • Keep records up to date (register & group summary). • Ensure the smooth running of the group. • Respect participants contributions and every individual is allowed the time needed to contribute. • Ensure that the organisation of break time is a shared responsibility. • Organise group trips when required. • Awareness of Adult Support and protection issues, • Volunteer present during the sessionin order to keep participants safe • Ensure that health and safety issues are addressed. • Involve group members in decision making. • To attend training courses as required. • Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss progress. • Advise the Volunteer Coordinator if there are concerns about the running of the group or participants.
