Description

The Sporting Memories Foundation Scotland has developed weekly groups for adults living with dementia across central Scotland with a focus on sporting reminiscence and physical activity. Volunteers are an essential and important part of our organisation as they enable us to run groups and enhance the lives of group participants. We value their contribution and consider it our responsibility to make sure that those volunteering with the Sporting Memories Foundation find the experience rewarding and enjoyable. The Group Supporter will assist the Group Facilitator with the running of the group. You will help to set up the group room/hall and will use your knowledge of sport to engage with group members. Training and ongoing support will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator. • Help set up the group room/hall. • Welcome group members when they arrive. • To assist the group facilitator with the running of the group. • Encourage participants to become involved with the group activities. • To be aware of health and safety issues. • To be aware of adult support and protection issues. • To attend training courses as required. • Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator as required. • Advise the Volunteer Coordinator if there are concerns about the running of the group or participants.
