Supporting women, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.

Dumbarton District Women’s Aid (DDWA) aims to provide a range of quality support services to women, children and young people (WC&YP) who are/have previously experienced domestic abuse (DA), primarily offering emotional and practical support underpinned by a gendered analysis of DA. We aim to provide a holistic and therapeutic support service to service users. We also aim to provide an understanding of the effects of DA and the links between gender-based violence and gender inequality and factors that increase vulnerability.
We provide refuge space, offering WC&YP a safe environment for recovery at an individual’s pace, free from control and abuse; advocacy; information and support using a counselling approach to assist and enable WC&YP to make informed and empowered choices; follow-on when moving on from refuge; outreach support for WC&YP who do not require refuge; Independent Domestic Abuse Advocacy; Counselling for children and young people.
